Philosophy Statement

My goal as a teacher and in life is to inspire those around me. I am a first generation Mexican-American and I have had the privilege of pursuing an education. I want to be a teacher because I want to make education accessible to everyone. I want my students inside my classroom to know that they are valued and seen. I plan to do this by creating meaningful relationships with students to learn about their personal interests and lived experiences. Knowing my students will allow me to create lessons that are meaningful to them.

I believe students learn best in a classroom where they feel safe to take risks, encouraged to try their best, and respected by others. What I strive for in my classroom is to provide a safe environment and give students an opportunity to express themselves in any way without fear of judgement. Throughout differentiated instruction and culturally responsive teaching, I will provide the support and challenges that my students will need to grow.

I want my students to leave the classroom with not only academic knowledge, but with confidence and a love for learning.
